Dubai’s specialty coffee scene is experiencing exciting times … The Gulfood Show, now the largest food show in the world, drew to a close last week including its very own specialty coffee area courtesy of the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe. But also, it has been confirmed that Dubai will host next years world Turkish coffee competition. From the rapidly rising interest in this town from the world’s coffee community, we can clearly ascertain a great increase of quality coffee descending on Dubai. Another sign of the times is Sabado Coffee Club, which is regularly attended by coffee people and non-coffee people alike. Sabado is a social coffee club that was born out of a desire to raise the standards of Saturdays by attracting like-minded people who love coffee, food and flavours. All with an interest in where their produce comes from. Sabado Coffee Club is hosted by a different café each month. Sabado; Reasons to be cheerful, part 3

Ramadan has drawn to a close and the dust has settled on Eid celebrations yet there are still a few things to be cheerful of… Like Sabado! Coffee Club.  A social coffee event, held at various interesting locations in and around Dubai. The first Saturday of August saw the third Sabado Coffee Club, held at Spill the Bean in Jumeirah.   Some old and new faces came down… And one or two silly faces!  The coffees this month were a real mixed bunch – some from roasters in Japan, some from Italy, some from Seattle etc etc etc etc etc!! In fact here are the top coffees tasted (from 7th to 1st)… As always, Sabado Coffee Club was a really relaxed afternoon of hanging out munching on some tasty all day breakfasts afterwards at Spill the Bean. The next Sabado Coffee Club will be on 6th September, 12 noon at a brand new cafe on the waterside of the creek of Dubai. Aptly named Creekside. The Social club that is Sabado! Coffee Club had its second venture at a fantastic venue called Cafe-Rider. for those of you who aren’t familiar with Sabado, it is a regular coffee tasting club that prides itself on being a social event for friendly folk to hang out in in a coffee venue and taste coffees that are roasted by different coffee roasters all over the world. This months Sabado! featured coffees by roasters from Hong Kong, Taiwan, China, UK, Massachusetts USA, Seattle USA and San Francisco USA. We had a great turnout of some old faces and some top people came to see what the fuss is about too. We all tasted the coffees and voted on our favourites. Sabado Coffee Club – Part Deux

Ah hello. Come in … Here, try this coffee! Welcome to Sabado Coffee Club … A social coffee club where the people are nice and the coffee’s quite good too. So, the first Sabado Coffee Club was held back on the first Saturday of May. It showcased some famous roasters and some new kids on the block from Russia, Turkey, and Austria. This coming month, we have  selected coffees from roasters in China… yes that’s right, China! Plus we will have a few other roasters from USA, UK and some extra special ones are being flown in from Hong Kong. We will be tasting some exciting coffees from a variety of origins, including  Rwanda,  Columbia, Kenya, Ethiopia,  Guatamala and  Panama. FNND is initiating a monthly coffee club in Dubai – the Sabado Coffee Club. Sabado Coffee Club was born out of a desire to raise the standards of Saturdays by attracting like-minded people who love coffee, food and flavours. Every first Saturday of the month Sabado Coffee Club will play host to a selection of fantastically dazzling coffees flown in by speciality roasters from around the world… some famous roasters, some new kids on the block and occasionally some Middle Eastern ones too. The set up is simple: take the best coffees from around the world cup (taste) them all vote the best brew it up You don’t need to have any specialist knowledge and each month we will give a quick class on cupping (tasting) coffee. Sabado Coffee Club is very informal and relaxed – it starts at 12 noon and lasts as long as people wish to be there, so turn up with a sore head, turn up without any sleep, turn up late or in your pyjamas… just turn up.
