Coffee cupping is very much a labour of love with many rewards. Even after seven years of cupping, I am still like a kid in a candy shop when approaching the cupping table. The ritual of inhaling aromas and slurping on flavours like a little boy with no manners brings a smile to my face and an excitement of the mysteries that are about to unfold. Cupping coffee can transport you to a farm half way round the world or lead you to exciting new origins or offerings you never knew about. What and why Cupping coffee is a system of classification based on a handful of learned skills – skills that once learnt can reveal many answers to roasting and brewing questions not to mention can be a lot of fun too. Sabado Coffee Club

FNND is initiating a monthly coffee club in Dubai – the Sabado Coffee Club. Sabado Coffee Club was born out of a desire to raise the standards of Saturdays by attracting like-minded people who love coffee, food and flavours. Every first Saturday of the month Sabado Coffee Club will play host to a selection of fantastically dazzling coffees flown in by speciality roasters from around the world… some famous roasters, some new kids on the block and occasionally some Middle Eastern ones too. The set up is simple: take the best coffees from around the world cup (taste) them all vote the best brew it up You don’t need to have any specialist knowledge and each month we will give a quick class on cupping (tasting) coffee. Artifact Coffee, a new offering from Baltimore

Located in Baltimore, Maryland are the people at ‘Artifact Coffee’.  A collaboration between restauranteur Spike Gjerde (of Woodberry Kitchen) and Coffee Guru, Allie Caran, Fat Nancy was aware their coffee programme would be serious – but the menu offerings at Artifact are also pleasing to the eye and tastebuds. Artifact are brewing with coffee courtesy of the now famous roasters, Intelligensia… And don’t take Fat Nancy’s word for it, Allie caran hosts coffee tastings (coffee cupping) every Friday.
